About The Position

Per Mar Security Services is hiring a Security Officer/Gate Attendant for a loss-prevention-focused role at a lumber yard. The officer checks vehicles in, directs customers to products in the yard, and verifies at exit that the products in their vehicles or trailers match their purchases. The work involves checking orders and counting products, using handheld computers, and frequent interaction with the public. The role can require substantial walking on concrete, especially during busy summer months. The listed schedule is Sunday 1:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m., Monday 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m., and Friday–Saturday 5:45 a.m.–2:00 p.m. The posting describes the position as temporary, with the option to stay on as a flex employee after the temporary position is complete. Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or GED.
Familiarity with security equipment.
Ability to handle the physical workload, including walking on concrete.
Strong attention to detail.
Good understanding of computers for use of handheld computers.
Ability to communicate well with the public.
Must possess integrity, communication, excellent service, and accountability.
Must be willing to participate in the company's pre-employment screening process and background investigation.
Generally, good knowledge of the building industry and construction is required.

Responsibilities

Check vehicles in and give customers directions to products in the lumber yard.
Check customer orders and count purchased products.
Verify at vehicle exit that products in vehicles or trailers match what customers purchased.
Monitor premises to prevent theft, violence, or rule infractions.
Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure proper function and security.
Warn violators of premises rules and regulations.
Address people engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
Report facility issues.
Request emergency personnel for high-risk situations.
Communicate with members of the public and provide directions.
