About The Position

Per Mar Security Services is hiring a Security Officer/Gate Attendant for a temporary assignment, with rehoming after the assignment ends. This role is primarily loss prevention at a lumber yard: checking vehicles as they enter, directing customers to their products, and verifying at exit that the products in vehicles or trailers match their purchases. The position involves using computers and handheld devices, interacting frequently with the public, and substantial walking on concrete, especially during busy summer months. The posted schedules are Sunday 7:45 a.m.–2 p.m. and Monday–Thursday 5:45 a.m.–2 p.m., or Friday–Saturday 5:45 a.m.–2 p.m. and Sunday 2 p.m.–8:30 p.m. and Monday 2 p.m.–9:30/10:30 p.m. The listed pay is $19 per hour. It provides security officer services and other security solutions for homes and businesses.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Familiarity with security equipment.
Ability to handle the physical workload, including substantial walking on concrete.
Strong attention to detail.
Good computer understanding.
Ability to communicate well with the public.
Willingness to participate in the company's pre-employment screening process and background investigation.
Must demonstrate integrity, communication, excellent service, and accountability.

Responsibilities

Check vehicles entering the lumber yard and direct customers to their products.
Check vehicles and trailers as they exit to verify that the products match what customers purchased.
Perform loss-prevention checks and count purchased products.
Use computers and handheld computers to support the work.
Monitor premises to prevent theft, violence, or violations of rules.
Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure they function properly and remain secure.
Warn people who violate premises rules and regulations.
Address people engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
Report facility issues.
Request emergency personnel in high-risk situations.
Communicate with members of the public and provide directions.
