About The Position

Per Mar Security Services is hiring a Security Officer/Gate Attendant for a temporary assignment with no specified end date. The role is primarily focused on loss prevention at a lumber yard. The officer checks vehicles in, directs customers to the location of their products, and verifies at exit that the items in each vehicle or trailer match the customer’s purchase. The work involves checking and counting orders, using computers and handheld devices, interacting with the public, and substantial walking on concrete, particularly during busy summer months.

The schedule is Sunday, 7:45 a.m.–1:30 p.m., and Monday through Thursday, 5:45 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Pay is $19 per hour. When the temporary assignment ends, there may be an option to continue in a flex role. The position reports to the Site Supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Good understanding of computers.
• Generally good knowledge of the building industry and construction.
• Ability to communicate well with the public.
• Ability to perform substantial walking on concrete.

Responsibilities

• Check vehicles in and direct customers to their products in the lumber yard.
• Verify at exit that products in vehicles or trailers match the customers’ purchases.
• Perform loss-prevention checks and count purchased products.
• Use computers and handheld computers to complete job tasks.
• Interact and communicate with members of the public.
• Walk throughout the site, including on concrete.
