About The Position

Per Mar Security Services is hiring an Officer/Gate Attendant for a loss-prevention-focused role at a lumber yard. The officer checks vehicles in, directs customers to their products, and checks vehicles or trailers as they exit to verify that the items being taken match the products purchased. The work involves checking orders and counting products, using computers and handheld computers, interacting with the public, and walking—sometimes extensively on concrete, particularly during busy summer months. The posting lists a Tuesday–Saturday shift from 2:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at $19 per hour. The position is full-time and reports to the Site Supervisor.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old.
Have familiarity with security equipment.
Be able to handle the physical workload, including extensive walking on concrete.
Have strong attention to detail.
Have good computer skills, including the ability to use handheld computers.
Communicate effectively with the public.
Generally, have good knowledge of the building industry and construction.
Participate in the company’s pre-employment screening process, including a drug screen and background investigation.
Possess values important to Per Mar Security: integrity, communication, excellent service, and accountability.
Have a high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Check vehicles in and direct customers to their products in the lumber yard.
Check orders and count purchased products.
Inspect products in vehicles or trailers at exit to verify they match the customer’s purchase.
Monitor premises to prevent theft, violence, or violations of rules.
Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure they function properly and remain secure.
Warn people who violate premises rules and regulations.
Address people engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
Report facility issues.
Request emergency personnel for high-risk situations.
