About The Position

Per Mar Security Services is seeking an entry-level or experienced Security Officer/Gate Attendant. This position is primarily focused on loss prevention at a lumber yard: checking vehicles in, directing customers to their products, and verifying at exit that the products in vehicles or trailers match what was purchased. The role involves using handheld computers, interacting with the public, and walking extensively, particularly during busy summer months. The position is full-time, with listed shifts covering Friday and Saturday mornings, Sunday afternoons, and Monday afternoons/evenings, at $19 per hour. The role reports to the Site Supervisor. Per Mar provides necessary training and uniforms.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Familiarity with security equipment.
Ability to handle the physical workload.
Strong attention to detail.
Good understanding of computers.
Ability to communicate well and interact with the public.
Generally good knowledge of the building industry and construction.
Must possess integrity, communication, excellent service, and accountability.
Must participate in the company's pre-employment screening process, including a drug screen and background investigation.
High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Check vehicles in and direct customers to products in the lumber yard.
Verify at exit that products in vehicles or trailers match the products purchased.
Check orders and count purchased products to support loss prevention.
Use handheld computers to perform job duties.
Monitor premises to prevent theft, violence, or violations of rules.
Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure they function properly and are secure.
Warn violators of premises rules and regulations.
Address people engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
Report facility issues.
Request emergency personnel in high-risk situations.
