About The Position

The Seasonal Sales Associate/Early AM Freight role supports Five Below’s customer experience and store operations. Associates greet and assist customers, identify and respond to their needs, share product knowledge, and promote store events and offers. They address customer concerns, communicate merchandise and service needs to management, and work with the team toward store and company goals. The role includes operating registers and other devices, handling and stocking merchandise, and working a flexible schedule that may include days, evenings, weekends, or overnight shifts. The position is hourly and starts at $11.00.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
Available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and potentially overnight shifts; travel may be required as needed.
Comfortable using or willing to learn technology such as computers, cash registers, handheld devices, and mobile devices.
Good communication skills and ability to engage with customers.
Ability to handle customer interactions and concerns courteously and professionally.
Ability to use basic information-gathering skills to solve problems.
Ability to learn procedural knowledge through on-the-job training.
Ability to frequently move merchandise weighing up to 25 pounds and place or remove merchandise at heights of 5–10 feet.
Ability to frequently ascend and descend ladders.
Ability to frequently kneel, bend, twist, and stoop.
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information with customers, managers, and coworkers in person and by telephone.
Ability to identify and understand email and printed instructions about merchandise layouts, associate schedules, and standard operating procedures.
Ability to remain in a stationary, upright position for 80% of the time.

Responsibilities

Greet and acknowledge customers promptly and assist multiple customers efficiently.
Assess customer needs by sharing product knowledge, answering questions, directing customers to merchandise, and making recommendations.
Engage in suggestive selling and stay informed about product availability.
Inform customers about store events, promotions, and special activities.
Address customer issues and use product knowledge to offer alternatives, seeking exchanges instead of returns when possible.
Inform management about restocking needs, service requirements, and customer feedback.
Collaborate with the team to achieve store and company goals and maintain a positive, productive work environment.
Operate cash registers, computers, handheld devices, phones, walkies, and mobile devices.
Move, retrieve, and put away merchandise, including using ladders and working in the stock room and sales floor.
