About The Position

The Seasonal Early Morning Freight Associate supports store operations by assisting customers, promoting sales, communicating merchandise and service needs to management, and helping the team meet store and company goals. The role involves working with merchandise on the sales floor and in the stock room, operating store devices and equipment, and following merchandise layouts, schedules, and procedures. The schedule is flexible to meet business needs and may include day, evening, weekend, or overnight shifts, as well as travel when required.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
Available to work a flexible schedule that meets business needs, including days, evenings, weekends, and potentially overnight shifts; travel may be required.
Comfortable using technology such as computers, cash registers, handheld devices, and mobile devices, or willing to learn.
Able to communicate effectively and engage with customers.
Able to handle customer interactions and concerns courteously and professionally.
Able to use basic information-gathering skills to solve problems.
Able to learn procedural knowledge through on-the-job training.
Able to frequently move merchandise weighing up to 25 pounds and place or remove merchandise at heights of 5–10 feet.
Able to frequently climb and descend ladders to retrieve and put away stock.
Able to frequently kneel, bend, twist, and stoop.
Able to frequently move around the sales floor and between the sales floor and stock room.
Able to remain in a stationary, upright position for 80% of the time.
Able to discern email and printed instructions regarding merchandise layouts, associate schedules, and standard operating procedures.
Able to frequently communicate and exchange accurate information with customers, managers, and coworkers in person and by telephone.

Responsibilities

Greet and acknowledge customers promptly and assist multiple customers efficiently.
Assess customer needs, share product knowledge, answer questions, direct customers to merchandise, and offer recommendations.
Use suggestive selling and stay informed about product availability.
Inform customers about store events, promotions, and special activities.
Address customer concerns and offer alternative solutions, including exchanges where appropriate.
Notify management promptly about restocking needs, service requirements, and customer feedback.
Collaborate with the team to achieve store and company objectives and maintain a positive, productive work environment.
Operate cash registers and other store devices and equipment.
Move merchandise between the stock room and sales floor, including retrieving, stocking, and putting away items.
Follow merchandise layout instructions, associate schedules, and standard operating procedures.
