Seasonal Barista
About The Position
The Barista/Coffee Shop Attendant prepares and serves coffee, small food items, and other beverages while interacting with guests in a positive, friendly, and efficient manner. This is a seasonal position running from November 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026, with weekend availability required. The role opens and closes the coffee shop, takes guest orders, prepares drinks and pastries using an espresso machine and other shop equipment, and provides customer service and suggestive selling. It also supports shop cleanliness, presentation, stocking, equipment maintenance, cash handling, and daily operations. The employee may assist in other positions on the Food & Beverage team as needed.
Requirements
- Some high school education or equivalent.
- Flexibility regarding scheduling based on business demands, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret English-language manuals relating to safety, operations, and procedures.
- Pass a background check and mandatory drug test.
- Able to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Able to bend, stretch, and twist.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience demonstrating strong customer service.
- Prior experience using restaurant equipment and following sanitation standards.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize a variety of tasks with minimal direction.
- Previous experience with cash transactions and point-of-sale systems.
- Proven teamwork skills.
Responsibilities
- Open and close the coffee shop according to established policies and procedures.
- Communicate with guests to take food and beverage orders.
- Operate the espresso machine and other shop equipment to prepare drinks and pastries.
- Provide outstanding customer service and engage in suggestive selling.
- Maintain equipment, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns, and/or call for repairs.
- Assist with stocking food and beverage items as needed.
- Perform cash-handling functions, including using the point-of-sale (POS) system and registers and completing daily reporting.
- Ensure the coffee shop meets high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service.
- Ensure daily coffee shop operations follow operating procedure guidelines.
- Assist in other positions in the Food & Beverage team as needed.
