About The Position
The Scheduling Specialist works at Texas Health Hospital Rockwall and coordinates procedures for multiple departments. The role requires professional and respectful interaction with internal and external customers and excellent service to patients and visitors. The specialist helps ensure accurate scheduling, appropriate patient access to care, and efficient patient flow in a fast-paced, multi-provider clinic.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of healthcare experience, including customer relations.
Nice To Haves
- Two years of professional office or healthcare experience.
- One year of medical terminology experience or certification.
- Six months of call center experience.
- CHAA (Certified Healthcare Access Associate) certification upon hire.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule procedures for multiple departments accurately and promptly to support productivity and patient flow.
- Select appropriate procedures and ICD diagnoses, referrals, providers, visit types or cases, insurance network coverage, and locations to expedite patient access to care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physician office scheduling, surgery scheduling, and other staff to reduce appointment date and time errors.
- Verify medical necessity criteria and ensure documentation complies with applicable payor guidelines.
- Participate in special projects and complete other duties as assigned.
