About The Position

The Surgery and Procedural Scheduler is responsible for the centralized scheduling, coordination, and optimization of surgical and procedural cases across Operating Rooms, Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Cath Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, and Endoscopy in an acute care hospital setting. This role ensures accurate case scheduling, resource alignment, regulatory compliance, and effective communication between physicians, clinical teams, pre-admission services, and ancillary departments. The scheduler supports efficient patient access, maximized room utilization, reduced delays and cancellations, and high-quality patient experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in acute care specialty nursing.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in surgical scheduling or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of surgical and procedural workflows.
  • Ability to manage complex schedules with multiple service lines and competing priorities.
  • High attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and manage high-volume communication.
  • Proficiency with scheduling software, EMR systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Analytical skills to support throughput and capacity optimization.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred.
