About The Position

River Valley, a family-owned specialty foods distributor based in Syracuse, New York, is seeking a full-time Sales Representative to serve customers in the Syracuse area. River Valley Holdings and its affiliated companies distribute specialty dry and frozen grocery products to retail customers across the northeastern United States. This role supports business growth and the company's full-service customer program by building lasting customer relationships. The successful candidate provides attentive customer service, presents products effectively, and communicates openly to identify and meet customer needs. Responsibilities include stocking, arranging, rotating, cleaning, and ordering products; building displays; implementing planograms; and resetting sections to add items or optimize shelf placement. The role involves daily travel and may require occasional overnight travel depending on the position.

Requirements

At least 18 years old and a high school diploma or equivalent.
At least one year of experience in merchandising or customer service.
Valid state-issued driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
Available for daily travel and occasional, position-dependent overnight travel.
Available to work weekends and/or a variable schedule as required.
Able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
Able to stand, walk, lift, and bend to service lower shelves for extended periods.
Able to walk or stand 8–10 hours per day.
Able to push and pull heavily loaded product carts.
Able to repeatedly bend, stoop, and kneel to fill shelves.
Able to move and climb ladders or step stools.
Ability to effectively communicate and present information.
Strong organizational skills and a fundamental understanding of sales processes.
Ability to adapt and remain flexible while managing numerous competing priorities.
Critical thinking skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
Strong computer skills, including Email/Outlook, electronic ordering/PDA, Word, and Excel.

Grocery experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Deliver exceptional customer service and build productive customer relationships.
Stock and arrange products on shelves, and rotate products to ensure freshness.
Build displays, implement planograms, and reset sections to add items or optimize shelf placement.
Clean and dust products and shelving.
Order products as needed to maintain inventory levels.
