About the position
The Vercel Sales Engineering Team is seeking a Sales Engineer, EMEA who combines technical knowledge with persuasive sales skills. The Sales Engineer will provide technical support to the sales team, prospects, and customers throughout the entire sales cycle, and will be responsible for answering technical questions, advising on standard methodologies, identifying and uncovering current needs, exploring and validating potential solutions, and supporting the project's benefits and viability for enterprise prospects. The Sales Engineer will work hand-in-hand with Solutions Engineering and Customer Success to ensure the technical needs of enterprise customers are surfaced, understood, and addressed in future roadmap planning. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, ideally from software development experience or previous pre-sales experience, and have 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing sales or consulting role.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to the sales team, prospects, and customers throughout the entire sales cycle
- Be the expert in Vercel's platform, solutions, and services and how they can be applied to solve business needs
- Develop and present demonstrations of the Vercel solutions
- Manage and run PoCs, guiding measures of success and towards meaningful outcomes
- Respond to Security Documents, coordinating with other internal specialist teams
- Respond to RFPs and other required formal written responses for sales opportunities
- Serve as an interface to Product and Engineering teams, representing Voice of Customer
Requirements
- Strong background in JavaScript
- Broad understanding of modern web development approaches and best practices
- Ability to provide technical support to the sales team, prospects, and customers throughout the entire sales cycle
- Expertise in Vercel's platform, solutions, and services and how they can be applied to solve business needs
- Ability to develop and present demonstrations of the Vercel solutions
- Experience managing and running PoCs, guiding measures of success and towards meaningful outcomes
- Ability to respond to Security Documents, coordinating with other internal specialist teams
- Ability to respond to RFPs and other required formal written responses for sales opportunities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to represent Voice of Customer to Product and Engineering teams
- Strong technical skills, ideally from software development experience or previous pre-sales experience
- Expertise in internet technologies: TCP, DNS, HTTP(S), TLS
- Awareness of broader technical ecosystems, including Headless CMS, Media, payments, eCommerce, Analytics, etc.
- Experience with load and performance testing for enterprise web applications
- Understanding of best practices in enterprise network architecture and security
- 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing sales or consulting role
- Bonus: Experience deploying Next.js applications to a production environment
- Bonus: Experience working on teams self-hosting Next.js on their Kubernetes (k8s) cluster
