About The Position

BusPlanner is seeking a Texas-based Sales Development Representative to help grow its business across Texas, working closely with a regional Account Executive and the Sales team. This remote role is based in Texas and includes regular in-state travel for customer meetings, regional events, conferences, and trade shows. The SDR will generate and qualify opportunities, build relationships with school districts and transportation decision-makers, and help move sales opportunities forward. The role also represents BusPlanner in person at industry events and customer meetings, supporting the company’s presence and growth strategy in Texas. The company describes this as an early-career opportunity with room to take ownership; strong performers may have the opportunity to advance to an Account Executive role within 6–9 months, with mentorship and support from Sales leadership. BusPlanner provides transportation management software to K–12 school districts. Its platform supports transportation operations, and the company is expanding its presence in the U.S. market.

Requirements

  • Must be based in Texas and willing to travel regularly across the state for industry events, regional meetings, trade shows, and customer visits.
  • Strong drive, grit, and motivation to prospect and win new business.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, including confidence meeting new people and representing BusPlanner professionally in person and over the phone.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, initiative, and ability to work independently while helping build the company’s presence in a growing market.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to ask thoughtful questions, uncover customer pain points, and clearly explain the value of the software.
  • Strong organizational skills and tech-savviness; ability to manage prospects, follow-ups, CRM, and sales automation tools.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn about the K–12 transportation industry, customers, and BusPlanner’s solutions.
  • Coachability, willingness to seek feedback, and ability to work closely with an experienced Account Executive.
  • Resilience, accountability, ability to handle rejection, and ownership of results.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new business opportunities through cold calling, email, LinkedIn outreach, in-person meetings, and other prospecting strategies.
  • Partner with the regional Texas Account Executive to identify high-value school districts, build relationships, advance opportunities, and help close deals.
  • Represent BusPlanner at regional transportation meetings, industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events.
  • Build relationships with transportation directors and other school district decision-makers, understand their operational challenges, and introduce them to BusPlanner.
  • Identify, engage, and qualify prospective customers, and coordinate follow-up with the sales team.
  • Collaborate with Sales leadership on territory planning, account prioritization, outbound campaigns, and strategies to expand BusPlanner’s Texas presence.
  • Test messaging, prospecting strategies, and outreach approaches to improve conversion and pipeline generation.
