About the position
The Sales Development Representative (SDR) role at Newsela involves researching, prospecting, and qualifying leads to build pipeline for the Sales team. This includes responding to inquiries, conducting proactive outreach, and providing product demonstrations to identify key needs and generate qualified opportunities. The SDR will collaborate with the Sales organization to enhance sales performance and contribute to future product enhancements. The ideal candidate has lead generation experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to establish clear value propositions. The base compensation for this role is $60,000 + OTE, with additional benefits and incentive stock options.
Responsibilities
- Research and prospect potential new customers through calls and emails
- Qualify leads to build pipeline for Field Reps and Customer Success Team
- Respond to inbound inquiries
- Conduct proactive cold outreach to potential new customers
- Provide online product demonstrations to draw prospects into initial discovery calls
- Identify key needs of prospects that lead to qualified opportunities for Sales team
- Collaborate within the Sales organization to inform strategy and process
- Receive support through sales training, enablement, marketing, and operations
- Represent the future of education and enhance how districts and teachers engage students
- Provide feedback from the market to drive future product enhancements
- Engage prospects through email and phone conversations to generate qualified meetings
- Manage a pipeline using Salesforce.com and sales process training
- Familiarity with sales platforms such as Salesloft, Outreach.io, or Yesware
- Excellent communication skills and ability to empathize with buyers' challenges
- Establish clear value propositions that connect buyer/user needs to the product and services offered
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment and use creativity to ensure flawless execution.
Requirements
- 1+ year of lead generation or inside sales experience
- Pipeline generation experience through email and phone conversations
- Salesforce.com experience and sales process training
- Familiarity with sales platforms such as Salesloft, Outreach.io, or Yesware
- Excellent communication skills and ability to empathize with buyers
- Ability to establish clear value propositions
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment
