About The Position

A Sales Associate in the Boutique Retail Store maintains customer service according to company standards and supports sales generation, merchandising, point-of-sale operations, loss prevention, and compliance with company policies and store standards. The role provides customers with product knowledge and service, maintains client books and sales records, and performs sales-floor, stock, shipment, and register tasks. The position is based in a demanding but caring retail environment that values versatility and personal development. The role may require travel between boutiques for business reasons and varied hours, including days, evenings, weekends, or holidays, as business dictates.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, and a degree in Retail, Fashion, or a related field, or equivalent work experience and education.
Three or more years of high-end retail, boutique, or sales-related work experience.
Understanding of inventory, customer sales experience, and merchandising.
Proficiency with Cegid transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, item and customer lookups, CRM, reports, and opening and closing registers in accordance with Cegid Manual guidelines.
Proficiency with the UPS System.
Ability to properly prepare and send shipments and receive and check shipments.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Familiarity with store operations.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with associates and customers.
Organized, self-starting approach and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, including under stressful conditions.
Ability to process information and merchandise through computer and POS register systems.
Ability to read, count, and write accurately to complete documentation and understand work-related materials.
Ability to access all areas of the store, including the selling floor, stock area, and register area.
Ability to operate and use equipment necessary to run the store.
Ability to research and explore new marketplace trends.
Ability to work varied hours, days, evenings, weekends, or holidays as business dictates.
Ability to travel between boutiques as necessary for business reasons.
Ability to perform the position’s physical demands, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently, consistent with light work.
Close visual acuity, including color, depth perception, and field of vision, for tasks such as reading, inspecting merchandise, and using computer terminals.

Responsibilities

Generate and maximize sales by encouraging clients to purchase company products.
Maintain knowledge of products, merchandise care, new items, customer-service guidelines, and store policies.
Develop and maintain client books and keep records of sales.
Follow customer-service guidelines, including greeting etiquette, returns, exchanges, transfers, and loss prevention.
Greet, serve, and advise clients with outstanding customer service; gift wrap and bag purchases.
Assist with mailings, answer phones, and handle phone orders.
Assist with floor moves, merchandising, displays, processing and replenishing merchandise, and monitoring floor stock.
Stock and restock shelves, counters, and tables; tag merchandise as needed.
Keep the sales floor clean and orderly and maintain high housekeeping standards.
Follow company policies, procedures, and practices.
Complete sales transactions accurately and efficiently and maintain proper cash and media accountability at POS registers.
Prepare and send shipments and receive and check shipments.
Work on special projects and perform other duties assigned by management.
