About The Position

The Sales Associate works in the Plumbing department and provides customer service to people shopping for home improvement products. The associate welcomes customers, listens to their needs, answers questions, helps them locate and select merchandise, and may occasionally load merchandise. The role also includes stocking shelves, processing orders and deliveries, preparing merchandise for customer needs, and guiding customers through shopping or checkout. Associates may cross-train in other store areas and perform other assigned duties. The position may involve working indoors and outdoors in changing weather conditions, exposure to noise and moving equipment, prolonged standing or sitting, and lifting merchandise according to safety guidelines. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of experience using a computer to input, access, modify, or output information.
• At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
• Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without accommodation.

Nice To Haves

• At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
• Bilingual skills.
• Certification in a trade related to the department, such as plumbing.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
• Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
• Replenish merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and down stocking products.
• Accurately process orders and deliveries so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
• Cross-functionally train in other store areas to support customer service.
• Prepare merchandise based on customer needs, such as cutting and threading pipe.
• Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
