Full Time - Sales Associate - Plumbing - Day
About The Position
As a Customer Service Associate in the Plumbing department, you provide friendly, professional customer service and help customers find products and services for their home improvement needs. You welcome and assist customers, answer questions, help select and handle merchandise, and support accurate order and delivery processing. You may occasionally load merchandise, replenish shelves, prepare merchandise for customer needs, and guide customers through shopping or checkout. Associates may cross-train in other store areas, and duties can vary by department and store needs. This role may involve working indoors and outdoors in varying weather and climate conditions, exposure to noise and moving or shaking objects and equipment, and occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores. Follow lifting guidelines, use powered equipment only with proper training or assistance, and use team lifts when needed.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or lift over 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as plumbing.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly and professional customer service.
- Help customers locate, select, and handle merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
- Cross-train in other store areas to help provide customer service.
- Prepare merchandise for customer needs, such as cutting and threading pipe.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
