About The Position

Every Huck’s Market Sales Associate is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of their shift, within company policy, to ensure that the shift contributes to the profitability of the store. The role provides courteous customer service, maintains store appearance and readiness, operates registers and handles shift accounting, follows company policies and applicable laws, protects cash and company assets, stocks and maintains merchandise displays, and performs cleaning, equipment checks, and safety procedures. Associates also promote the Huck’s Bucks Loyalty app, explain its benefits, assist customers with sign-up and use, and monitor transactions for potential misuse. The listed duties are not exhaustive; management may revise the job description and require other tasks as circumstances change.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly, including through the gasoline intercom, and provide courteous service according to Best In Class standards.
• Ensure the store appearance meets company expectations and that the store is open and ready for business during all hours.
• Handle customer conflicts using the company’s MAKE IT RIGHT method.
• Perform tasks assigned by the Store Manager, follow the posted work schedule, operate the shift within company guidelines, and comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
• Follow the company Vision/Mission Statement (T.H.A.N.K.S.), participate in company contests, and use suggestive selling techniques.
• Notify the Store Manager of sales, cash, or operating discrepancies and of personnel situations or policy violations affecting store performance.
• Complete the shift checklist, accurately record hours worked, ring all sales on the register, and record voids, refunds, and price overrides.
• Treat coworkers and customers with dignity and respect and comply with the Company Responsible Retailing policy.
• Follow cash-handling, vendor check-in, register, safe-security, cash-drawer, and shift-change procedures; protect cash, merchandise, and other company assets.
• Maintain a safe shopping and working environment.
• Keep coolers, drink boxes, shelves, and displays stocked and fronted; clean and maintain equipment and prepare high-margin products as directed.
• Use correct merchandise pricing from the DSD or grocery book and apply suggestive selling techniques as directed.
• Keep floors, windows, shelving, counters, gas pumps, and the parking lot clean; follow shift duty checklist items.
• Check refrigeration equipment performance and temperatures at least once per shift and promptly report maintenance problems to the Store Manager.
• Use ladders and follow lifting procedures properly, use wet-floor signs as required, and promptly report accidents to the Store Manager and corporate office.
• Promote the Huck’s Bucks Loyalty app, explain the benefits of signing up and using it, help customers sign up and use discounts and redemption features, and monitor transactions for potential misuse of points or discounts.
