About The Position

The Sales Associate serves customers in a professional, quick, and courteous manner while complying with food-handling guidelines. The role includes cashier and clerk duties, processing sales, assisting with stocking and ordering, and maintaining a clean store and food-service environment. The associate follows food-safety procedures for preparing, storing, rotating, dating, and temperature-testing food products, and reports problems to management. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Ability to operate a POS system efficiently.
Ability to read, write, and perform math skills.
Positive, enthusiastic attitude and flexibility to adapt to change.
Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate in English, if applicable.
Well-groomed and properly attired.
Able and willing to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service and work cooperatively with team members.
Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and any shift needed.
Reliable transportation and phone.
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; stand for long periods; frequently walk, handle or feel objects, reach, talk, and hear; and occasionally sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Responsibilities

Arrive in a clean, proper uniform and maintain a clean, neat appearance.
Greet customers in a friendly manner and provide friendly, competent, courteous, and prompt customer service.
Understand and use the POS system efficiently; make change properly; use credit-card equipment; and process sales quickly and accurately.
Open and close shifts, including completing required paperwork.
Ensure items are stocked and priced correctly; check in vendor deliveries; assist with ordering; and understand fuel inventory reports.
Clean and sanitize equipment, perform simple maintenance, and keep the store neat and clean inside and outside.
Recognize problems and report them to management; maintain a positive attitude; read and follow directions.
Manage food operations and product handling and storage in accordance with food-handling guidelines and applicable state and federal regulations.
Maintain a clean and healthy food-service environment by following cooking procedures and food temperature-holding requirements.
Store food properly, rotate and code-date products with expiration dates, and ensure cooked and stored products are held at proper temperatures.
Temperature-test food to support food safety and quality control.
Report to scheduled work on time and maintain regular, consistent attendance.
Assist with other duties as assigned.
