About The Position

Mathis Home is hiring a Rug Sales Associate to promote and sell merchandise displayed on the showroom floor while providing excellent service to internal and external customers. The associate helps customers identify products that meet their needs, explains merchandise features and care, assists with product selections, and prepares sales tickets. They also follow up on customer orders and inquiries and coordinate with customer service, warehouse operations, and other departments to resolve issues and meet customer needs. The position is in an indoor, climate-controlled environment. The schedule requires open availability, and weekends are a must. Pay is $20 per hour during two weeks of training. For the first 90 days after training, compensation is $20 per hour or commission, whichever is greater. After 90 days, compensation is straight commission, with no cap on earnings.

Requirements

Ability to lift merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds, including moving furniture and flipping rugs as part of the selling process.
Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time.
Ability to listen and respond to customer needs.
Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
Positive attitude when working with internal and external customers.
Knowledge of employment, safety, and merchandise-handling procedures.
Open availability; weekend work is required.

Responsibilities

Promote and sell merchandise displayed on the showroom floor.
Work directly with internal and external customers.
Follow up on customer orders and inquiries.
Assist with merchandise-related problems in conjunction with customer service and warehouse operations.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure customer needs are met.
Ask customers about their needs and explain product features, prices, availability, uses, and benefits in an understandable manner.
Prepare sales tickets for orders.
Help customers select products based on their specifications and needs; recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise.
Describe merchandise and explain its use, operation, and care.
Stay educated on new products, policies, and store advertisements.
Apply methods for displaying, promoting, and selling products and maintain excellent customer relations.
Follow up with customers by email and phone.
Perform other duties as directed by management.
