About The Position

The Route Trainee (RT) participates in hands-on training through UniFirst’s Service Certificate Program to prepare for a transition into a full-time Route Service Representative (RSR) role. The position supports daily service operations, assists with deliveries, learns multiple customer accounts, and provides route coverage when RSRs are absent. The work is field-based and involves operating a company walk-in truck, serving customers, and working in indoor and outdoor environments. The schedule is Monday through Friday during the day, with no nights or weekends.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
• Meet Department of Transportation requirements, including a physical exam.
• High school diploma, GED, or military service required.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented approach and providing excellent customer service.
• Comfort with learning and using technology.
• Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in customer service, route sales, or delivery.

Responsibilities

• Participate in UniFirst’s hands-on Service Certificate Program to prepare for a Route Service Representative role.
• Load and unload route trucks to support daily service operations.
• Deliver clean garments and products to customers and return soiled items.
• Cover established routes during Route Service Representative absences.
• Operate a company walk-in truck along designated routes, prioritizing safety and customer service.
• Build customer relationships and contribute to the success of the Service Department.
• Work across indoor and outdoor environments while maintaining attention to detail and safety.
