Route Trainee - UniFirst
About The Position
At UniFirst, the Route Trainee (RT) receives hands-on training through blended learning programs while supporting daily operations and preparing to transition into a full-time Route Service Representative (RSR) role. The trainee assists with deliveries, service, and route coverage while learning multiple customer accounts. The position includes participation in UniFirst’s Service Certificate Program, field-based customer service, operating a company walk-in truck, and work in indoor and outdoor environments. The schedule is Monday through Friday during daytime hours, with no nights or weekends.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Meet Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, including a physical exam.
- High school diploma, GED, or military service.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented mindset and providing excellent customer service.
- Comfort using and learning new technologies.
- Able to lift, carry, and push up to 50 pounds and remain on feet for extended periods.
- Dependability, effective time management, communication, collaboration, and customer-focused service skills.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in customer service, route sales, or delivery.
Responsibilities
- Participate in UniFirst’s Service Certificate Program to prepare for a Route Service Representative role.
- Assist the service team by loading and unloading route trucks.
- Deliver clean garments and products to customers and return soiled items.
- Provide route coverage during Route Service Representative absences and manage established routes.
- Operate a company walk-in truck along designated routes, prioritize safety, and support customer relationships.
- Work across indoor and outdoor environments while maintaining attention to detail and safety.
- Contribute to Service Department operations and customer service.
- Maintain a consistent Monday–Friday daytime schedule, with no nights or weekends.
