About The Position

The Room Service Assistant supports patient meal service at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. The role visits patients to take meal orders while helping them follow prescribed diet orders, assists with tray assembly and delivery, picks up trays, records calorie counts, and charts meal intake. The assistant also helps the kitchen as needed and performs other assigned duties. The position requires maintaining a current BLS certification, either before hire or within 60 days of hire.

Requirements

• Current, valid BLS certification, or obtain it within 60 days of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Ability to learn to chart oral meal intake in the Electronic Medical Record.
• Ability to obtain Diet Orders and RSA reports from the Electronic Medical Record.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of hospital therapeutic diet orders.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of food handling and customer service experience.
• Previous experience in a healthcare or clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Visit each patient to take meal orders and help patients follow prescribed diet orders.
• Assist with tray assembly.
• Deliver meal trays to patients and pick up trays.
• Record calorie count information and chart meal intake.
• Assist the kitchen as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Complete therapeutic diet training and attend monthly diet education in-services.
