Room Service Assistant - Full Time
About The Position
Performs food-service duties for patients, serving meals and snacks professionally. Rotates floor supplies and maintains supplies at PAR (Periodic Automatic Replenishment) levels. Delivers appropriate room-service menus, explains meal-ordering systems, and assesses patients’ ability to use those systems. Communicates with nursing staff, nutrition technicians, dietitians, and call-center staff. Uses computerized diet sheets and patient systems; retrieves completed meals from patient rooms and records intake and calorie-count information. Processes meal orders by telephone, verifies that orders meet diet parameters, and provides menus appropriate to patients’ diets. Follows HACCP guidelines, maintains quality-control standards, and provides excellent customer service. On-the-job training is provided.
Requirements
- Excellent customer-service, listening, and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate and establish effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and nursing staff.

- Previous food-service experience and/or experience with therapeutic diets.
Responsibilities

- Follow Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines.
- Obtain, transcribe, and process meal orders from patients and visitors by telephone.
- Verify that meal orders meet diet-order parameters and provide menus appropriate to each diet.
- Maintain excellent customer service and effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and nursing staff.
- Evaluate and maintain quality-control standards.
