About The Position

The Room Service Ambassador serves meals to patients professionally and efficiently, instructs patients on the meal ordering system, helps them place orders within the limits of their physician-prescribed diets, and assesses their ability to use the ordering system. The ambassador provides basic information about prescribed diets and alerts the Clinical Dietitian and/or Nurse when additional education or assessment is needed. As the primary representative of Food and Nutrition Services on patient floors, the role works much of the time without direct supervision and helps maintain or enhance the patient and customer experience through high-quality service.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Food Handler’s Permit.

Responsibilities

Ensure services for patients, employees, and visitors are high quality and maintain or enhance the patient and customer experience.
Deliver the correct, diet-compliant menu to each patient.
Instruct patients on meal ordering systems using an established script.
Obtain meal orders from patients and enter them into the Food and Nutrition Services technology system using a tablet.
Assist patients and/or their families or guardians with meal orders and ensure orders comply with physician-ordered diets.
Serve patient meals professionally and efficiently.
Retrieve completed meals from patient rooms in a timely manner.
Mediate patient concerns regarding meal service.
Communicate effectively and concisely with other departments about patient support, issues, requests, and special situations.
Act as a patient advocate regarding food services.
Provide basic information about physician-prescribed diets and alert the Clinical Dietitian and/or Nurse when further education or assessment is needed.
Assess patients' ability to use the meal ordering system.
