About The Position

AAA is hiring Roadside Assistance Technicians, Tow Technicians, and Mobile Battery Technicians for its Roadside Assistance team in Dayton, Ohio. These technicians assist members in a range of weather conditions by providing services such as changing tires, jumpstarting batteries, and towing vehicles. The role is suited to dependable, empathetic people who enjoy helping others and are comfortable working outdoors. Technicians provide roadside and recovery services according to established guidelines and quality-control procedures. They communicate with members, make safe service decisions, record call information using in-truck technology, process payments, conduct vehicle and equipment inspections, and help promote the AAA brand at special events. The position is full-time, first shift, and includes weekends. Additional overtime may be available during peak season. Required departmental training must be completed within 60 days of hire, with additional training as needed. The listed starting pay is $19.95 per hour for Roadside Assistance Technicians, $21.40 per hour for Battery Technicians, and $22.30 per hour for Tow Technicians. Requirements

Be at least 21 years old.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license for the state of residence and meet state and local licensing requirements.
Be able to pass a physical examination required by the Department of Transportation and/or company policy.
Obtain satisfactory pre- and post-employment screening results, including criminal, drug, and motor vehicle screening.
Operate passenger vehicles and light-to-medium-duty trucks with manual and automatic transmissions while primarily working from a service vehicle.
Communicate effectively in writing, verbally, by email, and using assigned technology such as GPS.
Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 75 pounds; bend, kneel, and balance to change tires, inspect, and push vehicles; and use hand tools to provide service.

Nice To Haves

Three years of experience in an automotive or mechanical environment, technical school, or at least three years of experience in sales and/or customer service is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide lock-out, fuel delivery, battery jump-start, tire-change, and towing services according to established guidelines and quality-control procedures.
Provide tow and recovery services according to established guidelines and quality-control procedures (Tow Technicians).
Sell, install, and test batteries and perform other battery warranty services (Mobile Battery Technicians).
Communicate effectively with members to keep them informed and ensure their safety.
Make sound decisions about safe vehicle service and accommodate member needs.
Enter call information accurately into in-truck technology, process payments, handle cash, and complete required reports.
Inspect vehicles and equipment to ensure they are safe and meet requirements.
Keep fleet vehicles and equipment adequately secured at all times, including when vehicles are not in use.
Participate in special events, including parades and television, radio, or social media activities, to promote the brand.
Complete required departmental training courses within 60 days of hire and attend additional future training as required.
