About The Position

AAA is hiring Roadside Assistance Technicians to join its Fleet Team in Perrysburg, Ohio. Technicians help members with roadside needs in a range of weather conditions, including flat tires, battery jump-starts, fuel delivery, lockouts, and vehicle towing or recovery. Depending on the position, duties may also include selling, installing, testing, and providing warranty service for batteries. The role involves working primarily from a service vehicle and communicating with members to keep them informed and safe. This is a full-time second-shift position with a schedule that includes weekends. The second shift includes a 10% shift differential. The listed hourly base pay range is $19.95–$22.30; the actual rate depends on the position and candidate experience. Overtime is available during peak season, and monthly bonuses may provide an additional $300–$500. Paid training, uniforms, and tools are provided.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years old.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license for the state of residence and meet state and local licensing requirements.
Be able to pass a physical examination required by the Department of Transportation and/or company policy.
Achieve satisfactory pre-employment and post-employment screening results, including criminal, drug, and motor vehicle screening.
Operate passenger vehicles and light- to medium-duty trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions.
Communicate effectively in writing, verbally, by email, and using assigned technology such as GPS.
Successfully complete required departmental training within 60 days of hire and additional future training as required; schedule adjustments may be needed to attend training.
Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 75 pounds, bend, kneel, and balance to change tires, inspect vehicles, and push vehicles, and use hand tools to provide service.

Nice To Haves

Three years of experience in an automotive or mechanical environment, or technical school training.
Alternatively, at least three years of experience in sales and/or customer service.

Responsibilities

Provide lockout assistance, fuel delivery, battery jump-starts, and tire-change services according to established guidelines and quality-control procedures.
Provide towing and recovery services according to established guidelines and quality-control procedures when assigned to a Tow Truck Driver position.
Sell, install, and test batteries and perform battery warranty services for members when assigned to a Mobile Battery Technician position.
Communicate effectively with members to keep them informed and ensure their safety.
Make sound decisions about vehicle service safety and how to accommodate member needs.
Enter call information accurately into in-truck technology, process payments, handle cash, and complete required reports.
Inspect vehicles and equipment to confirm they are safe and meet requirements.
Keep the fleet vehicle and equipment adequately secured, including when the vehicle is not in use.
Support AAA at special events, including parades and television, radio, and social media activities that promote the brand.
