About The Position

Miller's Health Systems is hiring a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to work as a Charge Nurse. The Charge Nurse is responsible for nursing care of patients during their shift, follows each patient's Comprehensive Care Plan, and assists the Unit Manager with thorough and accurate patient-record documentation when needed. The position supervises direct resident care personnel on the shift. The schedule is a weekend option, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Requirements

• Currently licensed and registered to practice as a professional nurse in Indiana.
• Successfully complete the pre-employment process and screening.
• Pass the physical examination required for employment at the facility.
• Maintain a professional manner and appearance.
• Knowledge of nursing policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of medication administration, possible side effects, treatment administration, and local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to resident care.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices and residents’ physical, psychological, social, and medical needs.
• Knowledge of the organizational structure and duties of employees under the Unit Manager’s supervision.
• Competence in supervision and leadership.
• Caring attitude, observational skills, good judgment, and emotional stability.
• Ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with other staff and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues (Exposure Category I).

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients during the assigned shift.
• Follow the Comprehensive Care Plan for patients.
• Assist the Unit Manager with thorough and accurate documentation in patient records when needed.
• Supervise direct resident care personnel on the shift.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with nursing policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
