About The Position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport. We are seeking an experienced RN Clinical Supervisor - Pediatric Emergency (Part Time-Days). The Pediatric Emergency Department Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing clinical leadership, operational oversight, and coordination of patient care activities within the Pediatric Emergency Department. This role supports nursing staff, ensures high-quality patient-centered care, promotes patient safety, and assists with daily department operations in alignment with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practices. The Clinical Supervisor serves as a resource and mentor to nursing and support staff while collaborating closely with physicians, nursing leadership, ancillary departments, and hospital administration to ensure efficient emergency care delivery for pediatric patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • DC RN License required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of pediatric emergency nursing experience preferred.
  • Prior charge nurse, leadership, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in a high-volume acute care hospital or trauma center preferred.
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) preferred.
  • Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinates daily clinical operations within the Pediatric Emergency Department.
  • Provides direct oversight and support to Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, Unit Clerks, and other support staff during assigned shifts.
  • Assists with staffing assignments, patient flow, throughput, and resource allocation to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Monitors patient care delivery to ensure compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Functions as a clinical resource and assists staff with complex pediatric emergency cases and critical situations.
  • Responds to emergencies, trauma activations, rapid responses, and high-acuity patient care needs.
  • Promotes evidence-based nursing practices and ensures delivery of compassionate, family-centered care.
  • Collaborates with physicians, respiratory therapists, laboratory staff, radiology, pharmacy, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
  • Assists with onboarding, orientation, training, mentoring, and competency validation of new nursing staff.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives, quality assurance activities, and patient safety programs.
  • Monitors compliance with infection prevention, medication administration, and documentation standards.
  • Assists leadership with employee coaching, counseling, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensures compliance with EMTALA regulations and emergency department operational standards.
  • Reviews and addresses incident reports, patient concerns, and operational issues in collaboration with leadership.
  • Supports department readiness for accreditation, regulatory surveys, and quality audits.
  • Maintains effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and team members to promote positive patient outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Assists with scheduling, staffing coverage, and operational problem-solving as needed.
  • Serves as relief leadership in the absence of the Nurse Manager or Director.
