About The Position

The BMDA Referral Coordinator works directly with patients, physicians and physician teams, and insurance companies to obtain authorizations and/or referrals for physician and facility appointments. Appointment types include physician visits, imaging services, rehabilitation, infusion therapy, radiation oncology, and surgery. The role follows department policies and procedures for verifying eligibility and benefits, determining prior authorization requirements, and completing other identified financial-clearance duties. Authorizations and referrals must be obtained promptly, and their status clearly documented in relevant systems. The coordinator escalates financial-clearance issues to the supervisor in a timely manner and should have knowledge related to oncology.
