About The Position

The Retail Store Associate works with wholesale and retail customers to understand their needs, answer questions about Sherwin-Williams products, and recommend suitable solutions. The role supports customer satisfaction and store sales goals by providing excellent service, resolving customer concerns, maintaining product knowledge, and upholding product and store presentation standards. Duties involve contact with customers, which may include minors, and access to cash, payment methods, electronic equipment, personal information, merchandise, and other valuable items. Sherwin-Williams has determined that a criminal history review is necessary to protect its business, operations, reputation, and the safety of customers, staff, employees, vendors, contractors, and the public.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without requiring employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 70 lbs. occasionally.
• Must be willing to work all scheduled hours, which may include evenings and weekends, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• For internal Sherwin-Williams applicants: must have received at least a “meets expectations” (3) rating on the most recent performance appraisal.
• For internal Sherwin-Williams applicants: must have completed all HR Cloud eLearning courses required for the current position.

Nice To Haves

• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in delivery, retail, or customer service.
• Previous work experience selling paint and paint-related products.
• Previous work experience operating tinting and mixing equipment.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in more than one language.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service.
• Assist customers in person and over the phone by determining their needs and presenting appropriate products and services.
• Build productive, trusting relationships with wholesale and retail customers.
• Process sales transactions accurately and consistently with policies and procedures.
• Follow and achieve monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales goals.
• Maintain precise work order files and formulas.
• Pull appropriate products from the sales floor or warehouse.
• Tint and mix products to customer specifications, as needed.
• Stock shelves and set up displays.
• Clean store equipment.
• Load and unload delivery trucks.
• Assist with deliveries, as needed.
• Maintain assigned areas in an in-stock and presentable condition.
• Stay knowledgeable about products offered and discuss available options.
• Comply with inventory control procedures.
• Suggest ways to improve sales.
