Retail Store Area Supervisor - (Key Holder) - Full Time
About The Position
The Store Area Supervisor oversees daily operations and merchandising for assigned areas at Ocean State Job Lot, ensuring smooth freight flow and exceptional customer experiences under the guidance of a designated Team Leader. This position is a development path for future team leaders, and associates are encouraged to pursue growth opportunities toward leadership roles. The role includes supporting and guiding associates, organizing work schedules and training, maintaining merchandise presentation and inventory flow, and ensuring store standards and policies are followed. When designated, the supervisor oversees store operations, including opening and closing procedures.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of professional experience in another retail environment.
- Computer skills, including familiarity with the Google platform (such as Email, Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, and Sheets) and Qlik.
- Availability to work as needed by the business, including nights and weekends.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.

- Experience with merchandise ordering, receiving, stocking, and maintenance in other retail environments.
Responsibilities
- Champion exceptional customer service for diverse clientele and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment by exemplifying the T.R.E.A.T. model.
- Connect customers with corporate customer service and help ensure effective resolution of their concerns.
- Promote Company-wide customer initiatives, including donations, loyalty programs, and promotions.
- Create effective work schedules for the assigned area.
- Guide and support the team in completing tasks and cultivating a collaborative, motivating environment.
- Support training for store associates and encourage growth across all levels.
- Manage merchandise presentation and ensure timely adherence to Company guidelines.
- Maintain accurate signage and ticketing; control ordering, backroom stock management, and sales floor flow.
- Verify pricing accuracy of incoming shipments, report errors and discrepancies, and perform daily manifest checks.
- Identify, separate, and display priority items effectively.
- Handle packaways, Return To Warehouse shipments, transfers, recalls, and returns according to Company policies.
- Uphold store safety and maintenance standards.
- When designated, supervise store operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Operate a cash register as needed.
- Adhere to Company policies and procedures.
