About The Position

ScanScape is hiring a permanent part-time Retail Scan Associate to collect in-store data at assigned local retailers each week for 52 weeks a year, including holiday weeks. Associates visit a designated selection of stores and use a downloadable mobile-phone app to scan product barcodes on displays and in aisle locations throughout each store, including aisle end caps. They are asked to record quantities for about 45% of the products scanned. Collected data is analyzed to help improve product and retailer sales performance.

The position averages 9–19 base hours per week across all stores, depending on store size and workload. Additional work, typically 1–2 hours per week per store, is frequently assigned for special projects throughout the year, with higher demand from January through June. Display scanning is performed throughout the entire store each week and can take several hours. Custom Projects, which provide more specific information about products in main stocking locations, occur almost every week and may add 30 minutes to 2 hours of work per store in a given week. Associates must meet store deadlines. Scheduling details are reviewed during the interview.

The role offers workplace independence and some flexibility in working hours. It involves continuous physical activity throughout the workday. The listed route includes grocery, convenience, and drug stores in Springfield, Troy, and New Carlisle, Ohio, with available workdays varying by store.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license.
• Have a reliable vehicle and at least the minimum state-required auto insurance coverage.
• Be able to stand for long periods and access products throughout a store.
• Be able to lift up to 25 pounds, reach 6 feet in the air, and bend, stretch, stoop, and stand.
• Be able to perform repetitive movements with hands, wrists, arms, and legs for prolonged periods.
• Have attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Be a deadline-driven self-starter.
• Have access to reliable Wi-Fi.
• Be tech savvy.
