About The Position

Under general supervision, the Retail Sales & Service Associate serves as a customer ambassador for the bank, advising and assisting deposit account customers, opening and servicing accounts, and processing transactions in accordance with established policies, procedures, and performance standards. The role builds trusted relationships with new and existing customers and provides efficient, personalized service in person and over the phone. With thorough product knowledge and an understanding of customers’ financial needs, the associate recommends suitable products and services and handles routine transactions accurately and courteously. The position includes six months of training, participation in sales initiatives and outbound calling, support for loan production, and performance of teller and other branch duties. Once trained, the associate rotates through branch duties to develop basic operational skills. The associate also supports team effectiveness, develops skills through training and feedback, mentors less-experienced Retail Sales Associates, and performs related clerical duties as assigned.

Requirements

Thorough knowledge of bank products and services sufficient to advise customers and recommend options suited to their financial needs.
Ability to provide accurate, efficient, and friendly customer service in person and by phone.
Ability to process routine financial transactions and maintain records accurately.
Ability to develop effective working relationships in a team environment.
Ability to participate in training and apply feedback.

Responsibilities

Identify opportunities to recommend products and services that meet the financial needs of existing and potential customers.
Provide quality service and build lasting customer relationships through each interaction.
Meet with customers to understand their financial goals and recommend, explain, open, or refer appropriate products and services.
Participate in training, sales meetings, bank promotions, and outbound calling efforts.
Support cross-referrals and sales to increase deposits, grow loans, build fee income, and develop customer relationships; work toward individual referral goals.
Open new deposit accounts and service existing accounts through in-person, telephone, and online interactions.
Perform maintenance related to bank products and services and provide loan production support.
Answer customer and staff inquiries, respond to customer surveys and emails, and follow up on requests for additional information.
Introduce customers to appropriate staff for other products and services to expand customer relationships.
Assist with and perform teller duties, including processing transactions and maintaining records of money and negotiable instruments.
Follow applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
After training, rotate through assigned branch duties to develop basic skills across bank operations.
Establish effective working relationships in a team environment.
Improve skills through training programs and feedback discussions with supervisors.
Mentor less-experienced Retail Sales Associates.
Perform other related clerical duties as assigned.
