Retail Sales Attendant
About The Position
A retail sales attendant learns product information, sells merchandise, operates cash registers, and assists customers to provide a positive Medora shopping experience. The role supports daily gift shop operations and provides information about Medora attractions and ticket purchasing. The position is full-time and seasonal, with varied days and hours based on business operations. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be required. Work takes place primarily in an indoor, controlled, temperate retail setting; occasional outdoor or warmer-condition work may occur when supporting events, retail activities, or guest-service needs. The environment is guest-facing and fast-paced, particularly during peak tourism periods. TRMF is located in Medora, North Dakota. Its Life Skills Center includes a dining room, fitness center, and designated spaces for music, studying, learning, prayer, reflection, and social connection.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and readiness for each shift.
- Ability to provide outstanding guest service.
- Ability to solve problems, use good judgment, and respond professionally to customer and operational needs.
- Ability to operate a POS system or willingness to learn.
- Math skills sufficient to make change for customers quickly and accurately.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience operating POS systems.
- Ability to talk, hear, and stand regularly; walk, reach overhead, and grasp frequently; and occasionally climb, push, pull, stoop, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Vision abilities including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Nice To Haves
- Previous retail experience is desirable.
- Experience in retail, customer service, hospitality, or sales is preferred.
- Bilingual ability is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and provide friendly, helpful, professional customer service.
- Operate the cash register and follow proper checkout procedures.
- Collect payment using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Process returns and exchanges.
- Assist customers with merchandise questions, product selection, purchasing incentives, promotions, and other retail offerings.
- Retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations to replenish gift shop items.
- Support daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Promptly report POS, computer system, inventory, facility, or guest-service concerns to retail management.
- Inform customers about Medora attractions and how to acquire tickets.
- Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming retail spaces by straightening merchandise, restocking displays, and completing routine cleaning tasks.
- Participate in workplace safety meetings, follow established safety practices, and help maintain a safe environment for customers and employees.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
