About The Position

Retail Sales Associates help ensure New Balance retail stores operate smoothly and provide exemplary customer service. With product knowledge and proper selling techniques, they assist customers throughout the transaction process while positively representing the New Balance brand. Associates use the GUEST service model to understand customer needs, educate customers about products, resolve questions or problems, and complete sales. They also maintain the sales floor, protect merchandise, and follow safety procedures.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong customer service and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Familiarity with cash register functions.
• Ability to perform basic math quickly.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift 4 pounds frequently and a maximum of 8 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to move product boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance if necessary.
• Ability to kneel or squat frequently and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to climb ladders occasionally and climb and descend stairs frequently, depending on location.

• Previous retail experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service using appropriate selling techniques, product knowledge, and the GUEST service model.
• Greet customers, understand their needs, explain product features and benefits, answer questions, and resolve problems.
• Complete sales using suggestive selling, multiple selling, and effective closing techniques.
• Measure and fit customers with appropriate New Balance products.
• Inform customers about current promotions.
• Keep the sales floor neat, organized, and well stocked.
• Ensure items are properly labeled and price marked.
• Help protect merchandise by greeting customers, managing security tags, monitoring floor merchandise, and reporting shrinkage or security violations.
• Follow safety regulations, including proper lifting procedures, and promptly report accidents and near misses.
