About The Position

The CHEF’STORE Sales Associate helps maintain superior customer service and promote the US Foods strategy, “Great Food, Made Easy,” while modeling the company’s cultural beliefs. The associate performs a variety of duties—including cashiering, stocking, and customer courtesy—and may be assigned to different departments based on customer and business needs. Work areas can include the front end, Meat/Frozen, Produce/Dairy, and Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment & Supply. The role may also support vendor fairs, sales floor resets, and inventory processes. The position involves serving customers, processing sales and cash transactions, receiving and replenishing merchandise, maintaining product quality and presentation, assisting with store operations, and keeping the store and surrounding areas clean and safe. The role is performed in a public retail store and can involve exposure to outdoor weather, temperatures ranging from -10 to 85 degrees, and working in freezers and coolers. The position requires flexibility to work Monday through Sunday between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., according to business needs. The stated starting rate is $20.77 per hour; the expected base-rate range is $17.13 to $27 per hour. The role may also receive overtime compensation.

Requirements

At least 6–12 months of retail cashier and/or stocking experience.
High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
Ability to provide fast, efficient, and professional customer service.
Ability to adapt and assist other employees to get the job done.
Good common sense, logical thinking, and basic mathematical aptitude.
Motivation and self-direction, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently or as part of a team.
Ability to work a flexible hourly schedule, including holidays and weekends.
Basic computer skills, cash-handling experience, and proficiency with general office equipment.
Ability to work in freezers and coolers.
Ability to meet the listed physical demands, including standing continuously, walking frequently, and frequently lifting and carrying loads up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Provide customers with a high-quality CHEF’STORE experience and build relationships while assisting them in finding products and learning about store services.
Process sales and cash transactions accurately using the POS, including scanning or looking up products, weighing items, and reporting barcode discrepancies.
Transfer products from cart to cart at checkout and visually inspect products for tampering.
Check customer receipts and verify cart contents against purchases as customers leave the store.
Perform assigned front-end opening and closing duties.
Receive inventory shipments and stock shelves neatly, maintaining product rotation and quality and reporting low stock levels to store management.
Label merchandise as needed, including applying catch-weight labels, produce PLU tags, and tags to unscannable merchandise.
Replenish the sales floor from top stock, follow FIFO, and use reach trucks and pallet jacks to move and stock products.
Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and proprietary software as needed.
Keep merchandise accessible, visually appealing, and available; assist with price changes as directed.
Assist with store opening and closing, inventory, and cycle counts.
Maintain a safe and clean facility, including the sales floor, front end, restrooms, parking lot, and store entrance; report or correct safety issues when possible.
Gather carts from the parking lot and cart corrals and return them to the designated area, ensuring they are clean and operable.
Perform other duties as assigned or required by Store Management.
