About The Position

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events, including children’s birthday parties, within a Michaels store to provide guests with a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience. Provide friendly customer service by helping customers shop, locate products, and check out. Complete store operations as needed, including truck unloading, stocking, merchandise recovery, and maintaining store cleanliness and safety standards. The role also includes assisting with omnichannel processes, supporting store programs and policies, and cross-training in Custom Framing selling and production. The position involves interacting with guests of all ages and store team members, communicating with event clients, and adapting activities to client needs. Set up, break down, and clean before and after events, and ensure scheduled-event clients are satisfied. Work takes place in a public retail store; some stock rooms may not be climate controlled, and some outdoor work may be assigned. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Requirements

Retail and/or customer service experience is required.
Experience working with children and children’s events is required.
Excellent people skills.
Effective written, verbal, and nonverbal communication and listening skills.
Organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests of all ages and coworkers.
Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.
Must satisfy applicable federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other events.
Create a fun and creative environment for clients and guests of all ages.
Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects, face painting, and other activities.
Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
Complete event-related administrative tasks, including emails, phone calls, and paperwork.
Adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs, and prepare backup or emergency plans.
Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
Set up, break down, and clean before and after events while upholding cleanliness and safety standards.
Help customers shop, locate products, and find solutions.
Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience.
Promote the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
Educate customers about the Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
Assist with omnichannel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram (POG) processes.
Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
Support shrink and safety programs.
Follow standard operating procedures, company programs, policies, and standards to support compliance with applicable laws and requirements.
Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner, maintain a positive and respectful attitude in difficult situations, and serve as a role model for other team members.
Cross-train in Custom Framing selling and production.
Participate in daily store cleanliness activities, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom upkeep.
Perform other duties as assigned.
