About The Position

The Party & Event Host plans, coordinates, and facilitates events—including children’s birthday parties and craft classes—within a Michaels store, creating a fun, engaging, and stress-free experience for guests. The role also supports customers with shopping and checkout, store operations, merchandise recovery, and cleanliness and safety standards. Team members are cross-trained in Custom Framing sales and production.

Requirements

Retail and/or customer service experience.
Experience working with children and children’s events.
Excellent people skills and the ability to interact effectively with guests of all ages and coworkers.
Ability to handle job stress.
Good written, verbal, nonverbal, and listening communication skills.
Organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate multiple events, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other events.
Engage guests of all ages and demonstrate and instruct craft projects, face painting, and other activities.
Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
Communicate event details with clients and store team members; handle related emails, phone calls, and paperwork.
Adjust event plans to client feedback and needs, prepare backup or emergency plans, and ensure client satisfaction.
Set up, break down, and clean event areas while following cleanliness and safety standards.
Help customers locate products and find solutions, provide a fast and friendly checkout experience, and promote Rewards and Private Label Credit Card enrollment.
Educate customers about the Voice of Customer survey and assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store processes.
Participate in truck unloading, stocking, planogram processes, merchandise recovery, maintenance, Store in Stock Optimization, and ad-set duties.
Support shrink and safety programs and follow company procedures, policies, standards, and applicable laws.
Interact respectfully with guests and coworkers, maintain a positive attitude, and serve as a role model for other team members.
Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
Participate in daily store cleaning, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom upkeep.
Perform other duties as assigned.
