About The Position

The Party & Event Host plans, coordinates, and facilitates events—including children’s birthday parties and craft classes—at a Michaels store, providing guests with a fun, engaging, and stress-free experience. The role also delivers friendly customer service, assists with shopping and checkout, and performs operational and merchandise tasks to support store standards and company Brand Promises. The position involves working with clients and guests of all ages, demonstrating and instructing craft projects, performing face painting and other activities, arranging party add-ons, and handling event communications and administrative tasks. The host adjusts plans to client needs, prepares backup plans, ensures satisfaction, and maintains cleanliness and safety before, during, and after events. Beyond events, the role supports customer checkout and loyalty programs, omnichannel order processes, truck unloading, stocking, planograms, merchandise recovery, store cleanliness, safety, and loss-prevention efforts. Team members are cross-trained in Custom Framing sales and production and may perform other duties as assigned. The position is based in a public retail store; work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings. The listed total base pay range is $16.94–$19.70, and the position may be eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable laws.

Requirements

Retail and/or customer service experience is required.
Experience working with children and children’s events is required.

Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests of all ages and coworkers.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate multiple events, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other events.
Engage guests of all ages and create a fun, creative environment.
Demonstrate and instruct craft projects; perform face painting and other activities.
Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
Answer emails, make phone calls, complete paperwork, and perform other event-related administrative tasks.
Adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs; create backup or emergency plans.
Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
Set up, break down, and clean event areas while upholding cleanliness and safety standards.
Help customers locate products and find solutions.
Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience.
Explain Rewards program and Private Label Credit Card benefits and complete enrollments.
Educate customers about the Voice of Customer survey.
Assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS) processes.
Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance, Store in Stock Optimization (SISO), and AD set duties as assigned.
Support shrink and safety programs and follow standard operating procedures, company programs, policies, and standards.
Interact respectfully and positively with customers and coworkers and serve as a role model for other team members.
Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
Participate in daily store cleanliness activities, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
