About The Position
Metz Culinary Management is hiring a Retail Manager to oversee operations and employee management across retail food outlets, including a café, food court with local and national concept brands, and grab-and-go outlets. The role focuses on providing excellent food and service, maintaining food quality and customer satisfaction, and delivering hospitality-focused customer relations in a cash-handling retail food operation. Responsibilities span front- and back-of-house operations, and the manager may assume the General Manager’s responsibilities and authority in their absence. The role also supports cash control, payroll records, and financial and HR functions. It may offer a stepping-stone for someone aspiring to become a Food Service Director.
Requirements
- Related experience in retail food service management.
- Ability to read and write, use simple math, and follow and give oral and written instructions.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in a contract dining food service setting, such as a hospital, school, college, senior living community, or corporate dining account.
Responsibilities
- Oversee operations and employee management for retail food outlets.
- Order and purchase supplies.
- Conduct weekly and month-end inventory.
- Maintain food cost goals.
- Develop and oversee production of the café’s daily menu.
- Complete weekly production preparation and pull sheets.
- Train and schedule café staff.
- Maintain quality service and food.
- Follow cash-handling procedures for registers and the safe.
- Maintain a professional uniform appearance.
- Assist with cash control and payroll records.
- Support financial and HR functions.
- Maintain customer satisfaction and good public relations.
- Assume the General Manager’s responsibilities and authority when they are absent.
