About The Position

The Retail Manager role, referred to in the description as Salon Director, contributes to Sun Tan City’s success by leading a team to create and maintain the Sun Tan City Experience for clients. The Salon Director exercises discretion in managing the salon’s overall operation. The role primarily involves supervising and directing the workforce; making staffing decisions, including hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, discharging, staffing, and scheduling; ensuring client satisfaction and quality experiences; motivating staff to meet performance goals; addressing minor maintenance issues; maintaining salon cleanliness; and managing salon safety and security. The Salon Director models Sun Tan City principles to deliver an exceptional client experience. The position requires a minimum five-day, 40-hour workweek, including a varying number of mid and/or closing shifts each week based on business trends and staffing needs as determined by supervisors.

Requirements

Management and/or sales experience is required.
Basic computer skills, including the ability to use Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple situations simultaneously.
Strong knowledge of client service techniques and operational practices.
Strong problem-solving and organizational and planning skills.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to coach and mentor, with knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.
Team-building skills.
Ability to prioritize and delegate.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
Ability to bend at the waist to clean tanning equipment.
Ability to lift or assist in lifting items and heavy boxes.
Ability to bend down to pick up trash, towels, and other items from floors.
Ability to perform salon cleaning tasks, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing.
Ability to work independently and alone during shifts as business needs require.

Responsibilities

Ensure the salon’s cleanliness, maintenance, sanitation, and organization.
Manage staffing levels to support employee development and salon operational requirements.
Comply with applicable wage-and-hour laws for non-exempt team members and minors.
Use operational tools, including labor guidelines, reports, cash management, and inventory management, to plan for and achieve operational excellence.
Use financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in salon performance.
Conduct regular performance assessments, provide feedback, and set challenging goals to improve sales performance.
Manage ongoing sales.
Work at least five days and 40 hours per week, including varying mid and/or closing shifts as determined by supervisors.
