About The Position

Boscov’s is seeking Retail Furniture & Bedding Sales Associates to join its retail team. The role involves building customer relationships, identifying and meeting customer needs, providing accurate product information, and promoting merchandise through successful sales. Associates are expected to establish a professional, personalized rapport with customers to close sales and provide a positive customer experience. This is a commissioned sales position with compensation structured as a draw against commission; the stated draw rate is $24.00 per hour.

The position also involves completing customer requests and transactions promptly and accurately, maintaining the selling floor and stock area, tracking sales, replenishing and straightening merchandise, completing paperwork, and staying informed about advertised merchandise. The role requires a schedule that may vary by day and hour, including evenings and weekends.

Requirements

• Prior retail and/or customer service experience.
• Ability and desire to actively engage customers and provide excellent customer service.
• Self-motivation and a professional image.
• Verbal, written, and telephone communication skills for interacting with customers, coworkers, and management.
• Ability and desire to work well with the public, management, and coworkers.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to learn selling skills and operate a POS register, computer, and Telxon.
• Availability to work varied days and hours as the work schedule requires, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers, identify their needs, provide accurate information, and promote products through successful sales.
• Build professional, personalized rapport with customers to close sales and provide a strong customer experience.
• Provide customer service according to company standards, including greeting and acknowledging customers, qualifying their needs, and closing sales.
• Complete customer requests in a timely manner.
• Complete transactions and paperwork accurately and efficiently while following company policies and procedures.
• Maintain the appearance of the selling floor and stock area.
• Track daily and weekly sales, maintain stock, straighten and replenish merchandise, and complete paperwork accurately.
• Maintain awareness of advertised merchandise.
