About The Position

The Retail District Manager plans and leads the activities of all stores within an assigned area, with full profit and loss responsibility, while following company objectives and policies to accomplish divisional and regional goals. The role leads store teams, supports Dollar General’s mission and values, and drives customer service, sales growth, inventory management, productivity, employee development, and protection of company assets. The position also identifies business opportunities and communicates divisional and regional priorities to store teams. This position requires weekly travel in a company-provided vehicle, with limited overnight stays. A current driver's license and acceptable driving history are required.

Requirements

Four or more years of retail management experience with progressively greater responsibility.
Experience managing multi-unit operations in retail, grocery, or convenience store operations with full P&L responsibility.
Results-oriented leadership, including the ability to model employee development and uphold the company’s mission and values.
Demonstrated record of achieving performance goals and objectives.
Financial analysis skills sufficient to interpret operating statements and other financial reports, manage budgets, and control inventory.
Ability to achieve results by leveraging resources, controlling expenses, managing merchandise, and defining and communicating clear expectations.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with flexibility and adaptability.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including superior customer service, appropriate responses under pressure, and sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
Ability to collaborate effectively with a team using a participative management style.
Current driver's license and acceptable driving history.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Big-box retail management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communicate divisional and regional priorities consistently and effectively to store teams.
Manage budgets and inventory and use financial reporting to support area operations.
Travel weekly in a company-provided vehicle, with limited overnight stays.
