About The Position

Plan and lead the activities of all stores within an assigned area of operation, with full profit and loss responsibility, while working within company objectives and policies to accomplish divisional and regional goals. The role leads store teams and supports Dollar General’s mission and values through effective human resources practices, customer service, sales growth, inventory management, scheduling, recruitment, employee development, loss prevention, expense control, and communication of divisional and regional priorities. The manager also identifies and develops business opportunities across the operational area, including distribution flow, merchandising, store growth and site selection, recruiting, training, employee relations, customer service, and systems implementation. The position requires weekly travel in a company-provided vehicle, with limited overnight stays. A current driver's license and acceptable driving history are required.

Requirements

Four or more years of retail management experience with progressively greater responsibility, managing multi-unit operations in retail, grocery, or convenience store operations with full P&L responsibility.
Results-oriented leadership, including the ability to model employee development and serve as a steward of Dollar General’s mission and values.
Demonstrated record of achieving performance goals and objectives.
Financial analysis skills sufficient to interpret operating statements and other financial reports, manage budgets, and control inventory.
Ability to produce results by leveraging resources, controlling expenses, managing merchandise, and defining and communicating clear expectations.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with flexibility and adaptability.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including customer-service commitment, appropriate reactions under pressure, and sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
Ability to collaborate effectively with a team using a participative management style.
Current driver's license and acceptable driving history.
Ability to travel weekly, including limited overnight stays.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Big-box retail management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, will be considered.
