About The Position

The Retail Cleaning Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe store environment, with a focus on floor care. The role includes operating floor-care equipment and cleaning floors, windows, and other store areas. Associates uphold operational, merchandising, loss-prevention, health, and safety standards and may be cross-trained to support multiple areas of the store based on business needs.

The associate contributes to a positive store culture, models customer-experience practices, communicates effectively with management and colleagues, and supports store recovery and Front End coverage. The position is based at Homesense Store 0030 in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Requirements

• Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks and operate a floor buffer and scrubber.
• Ability to multitask and respond appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations.

• Ability to work effectively with peers and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Maintain floor-care cleanliness standards, including maintaining and operating the scrubber and buffer.
• Dust mop, damp mop, sweep, vacuum, dust, and spot-clean glass and windows.
• Maintain organization, cleanliness, and recovery standards throughout the store, including the Sales Floor, Single Queue, Associate Lounge, Backroom, and Restrooms.
• Follow company Health and Safety policies, including refilling essential items in the Lounge, Restrooms, and Front End.
• Cross-train in other store areas, such as the Backroom, Front End, and Sales Floor, to support business needs.
• Support and respond to Front End coverage needs.
• Uphold merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
• Initiate and participate in store recovery throughout the day as needed.
• Follow operational and loss-prevention controls and company guidelines, including shrink-reduction practices.
• Communicate accurately and effectively with management and Associates.
• Follow labor laws and company policies and procedures, including meal and break-period policies.
• Participate in safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
• Model established customer-experience practices with internal and external customers and support a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
