Seasonal Retail Cashier & Sales Floor Support - Hillsdale Shopping Center
About The Position
The Retail Cashier & Sales Floor Support employee provides customer service at checkout and by phone, assisting with sales, returns, and other transactions. The role helps make the shopping experience quick, easy, and enjoyable by listening to customer needs and sharing product and fashion knowledge. The employee supports an orderly, customer-ready department by straightening, lightly cleaning, and restocking the cash wrap area and sales floor. They also tell customers about upcoming events, Nordstrom gift cards, and the Nordstrom Rewards program, and may help with order fulfillment and order pick-up in other store areas. The position is seasonal and based at Hillsdale Shopping Center.
Requirements
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and customer requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organization and follow-through.
- Problem-solving ability.
- Computer proficiency and interest in learning new computer applications.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Ability to remain in continuous movement for 6–8 hours per shift, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching.
- Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to handle bulky and sometimes awkwardly shaped items, including reaching for and lifting items above the head.
- Ability to regularly lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers by phone and at checkout with sales, returns, and other transactions while providing excellent customer service.
- Listen to customer needs and share fashion knowledge to make service quick, easy, and enjoyable.
- Help keep the department runway ready by straightening, lightly cleaning, and restocking the cash wrap area and sales floor.
- Stay informed about key fashion trends and products to help customers make purchase decisions.
- Build customer relationships by sharing information about upcoming events, Nordstrom gift cards, and the Nordstrom Rewards program.
- Provide flexible support in other store areas, including order fulfillment and order pick-up.
