About The Position

Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake is hiring a Retail Associate to support daily store operations, including customer service, donation intake, merchandise processing, and sales floor support. This is a hands-on, team-based role for someone who enjoys variety, staying active, and making a positive impact in the community. The position is full time at a Plaza Retail Store and pays $16.00 per hour. Weekend availability on Saturdays and Sundays is required, along with the ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and holidays. Reliable transportation is required for each scheduled shift. Some locations may require forklift operation; certification is provided if needed within 30 days of hire. The role requires the ability to read clothing tags and labels in English. The work involves frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and hand use. Employees lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting up to 25 pounds, in a medium physical-demand work environment. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Customer service, retail, or material handling experience preferred.
Ability to follow instructions and work with frequent interruptions.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Reliable transportation for each scheduled shift.

Responsibilities

Greet and assist customers and donors in a professional, friendly manner.
Help donors unload items, issue donation receipts, and maintain accurate records.
Sort, price, and tag goods to support merchandise production.
Stock and maintain organized sales-floor and backroom areas.
Operate a cash register and POS system accurately.
Assist with daily opening, closing, and recovery tasks.
Support fundraising initiatives and uphold Goodwill’s mission.
Follow safety, cleanliness, and housekeeping standards.
