About The Position

AAA Club Alliance is seeking an enthusiastic, sales-driven Retail Associate Travel Agent to help clients plan domestic and international travel, including cruises, land tours, flights, and hotels. The role suits experienced travel professionals as well as people beginning a travel career who have strong sales and customer-service skills, a willingness to learn, and comfort with new technology. Associates use their own travel experiences to guide clients, build lasting customer relationships, and apply AAA’s travel strategy to meet sales goals. The position includes structured training, coaching, mentorship, ongoing learning, and a path to advance to Retail Travel Agent and Senior Retail Travel Agent roles. A Certified Travel Associate (CTA) designation is required within two years of hire; the company covers program and testing costs and provides paid time to complete certification. Company-sponsored IATAN cards, travel discounts, and paid educational trips are also offered. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with Sundays off and a 37.5-hour work week. The store location is 3514 Clinton Parkway, Suite K, Lawrence, Kansas 66047. Starting base compensation is $14.73–$19 per hour, adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors. The position is eligible for monthly incentive pay, with an average payout of $550–$1,100 after approximately six months of employment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least one year of retail experience.
Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
Strong organizational ability.
Proficiency with travel booking systems and web-based applications.
Working knowledge of geography.
Obtain the Certified Travel Associate (CTA) designation within two years of hire.
Satisfactory pre-employment and post-employment screening results, including criminal, drug, and state and/or vendor-specific screenings.
Ability to obtain a necessary Membership license or other required licenses, as needed to perform the essential functions of the position.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree or graduation from a travel school.
At least one year of experience as a retail/leisure travel agent or other comparable travel experience.

Responsibilities

Create domestic and international travel experiences, including cruises, land tours, flights, hotels, and other travel.
Use personal travel experiences to inspire and guide clients.
Build long-term client relationships and encourage repeat business.
Use AAA’s established travel strategy to support success and achieve sales goals.
Process bookings, payments, and travel documentation in compliance with ARC, DOT, and AAA policies.
Educate clients about AAA benefits, exclusive travel perks, and the AAA-branded credit card.
Resolve client concerns under management guidance.
Attend promotional events, training, and familiarization trips to maintain industry knowledge.
