About The Position

The Restaurant Service Assistant supports dining-room operations at the Mermaid Bar, helping provide food and beverage service consistent with Neiman Marcus standards. The role maintains dining-room setup and cleanliness, assists guests and service and kitchen staff, and completes assigned pre-shift, post-shift, daily, and weekly duties. Associates must maintain professional hygiene and arrive appropriately dressed and equipped for their duties. The position requires a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• Experience serving food and beverages and following proper table-service guidelines.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Motivated and results-driven.
• Knowledge of proper placement of china, glassware, and flatware for table settings.
• Thorough knowledge of service sequence and proper placement of table settings, food, and beverages according to kitchen tickets and the guidebook.
• Thorough knowledge of food, including preparation and culinary terminology.
• Ability to interact graciously with the public and handle multiple duties simultaneously.
• Exceptional customer-service and problem-solving skills.
• A collaborative “win together” mentality.
• Ability to stand, bend, climb stairs, and lift and carry 35 pounds.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Maintain dining-room tables by clearing and resetting them.
• Deliver popovers and butter, pour water, and deliver food and beverages to guests according to kitchen tickets.
• Maintain bus stations and beverage areas.
• Learn dining-area table numbers and sections.
• Assist kitchen and service staff with requests, restocking plates, bagging to-go orders, and setting up the expediter station.
• Assist waitstaff by refilling beverages and running food from the kitchen to the dining room.
• Set up dining-room items, including coffee, iced tea, and ice.
• Restock glasses, flatware, and linens.
• Participate in daily pre-shift meetings.
• Complete pre-shift, post-shift, daily, and weekly duties assigned by a supervisor.
• Lift and move items such as tables, chairs, and highchairs.
• Clean and maintain the restaurant and workstation.
• Maintain hygiene and professional appearance standards, including clean clothing and shoes and hair and nails maintained to avoid food-contamination risks.
• Report to the work area appropriately dressed and prepared with necessary supplies and equipment.
